Pac-Man Christmas Tree

Pac-Man Christmas Tree

Other countries have so much fun. This is in Spain.I think they should've taken the extra step and made it playable. The shape should make it extra fun like you would have to run around the tree when your Pac-Man is towards the top of the tree, where it is narrow, and you wouldn't know if a ghost was coming in the next turn.

iPhone NES Emulator

Posted Aug 7, 2007 8:19 AM by Sung

It's too slow to actually play and the controller on screen looks good but plays bad.

Update: Looks like a couple of l33t hackers got a hold of it and rewrote it so that it's much faster. You'll still have trouble if you have normal sized thumbs though.

Here is the article from The Unofficial Apple Weblog.

The actual files and all updates will appear here.

Guitar Hero for Xbox 360

I got it and I see the hype. I just played it for 3 hours without doing anything else by myself, Ignoring everything else that is going on. It is great. My fingers won't move. I'm typing using a pen in my mouth. It is very difficult.

PS3 In Europe

Posted Jan 24, 2007 9:13 PM by Sung
PS3 In Europe for $840! Looks like the PS3 is finally going to come out in Europe in March and it is going to cost £425. £425 is $840 US! Seriously, I don't think Sony really wants the PS3 to be successful. They might be giving up on the division like they did with most of their other divisions. Sony's pride is going to destroy them slowly.

For awhile, Sony's SCEA division was the only profitable part of Sony. Now it has shifted to their TV's. They have some of the best displays out there. The Sony Bravia video processor chip is probably one of the top 5 chips out there. Maybe they don't believe that they can maintain two successful divisions at once, even though they have very talented people working and more resources than most. It might also be that they want the PS3 to be an HDTV accessory. If you look at it that way, the PS3 is a great accessory to your Sony SXRD HD televsion, but the Xbox 360 is just as good, if not better, and more importantly, cheaper.

Tetris on Those Portable Credit Card Machines

Posted Jan 5, 2007 10:25 AM by Sung

This is a video of someone who hacked one of those portable credit card processors. I see these all the time at computer shows but the reception is bad on them so the vendors have to run outside of the convention hall to process credit card purchases.

Anyway, someone hacked them so that they could play Tetris on it. Here is the link to the article about it. Link

My PS3 thoughts

Posted Dec 27, 2006 8:22 AM by Sung
I was reading an interesting article about how the PS3 is a dud for Sony. Then I came across a preview for Gran Turismo HD, which the demo for is now available to download. As you can see to your left and in the screenshots at the article, Gran Turismo HD looks incredible. There's no denying that it is by far the best looking game you can play on a console at the moment. Then I realized it's not the best graphics you can possibly get at this exact moment and this won't change for a long time. One of the biggest arguements for console over a PC loaded with a high-end graphics card, CPU, RAM, etc. was the price.

Obviously, you can easily spend more than $500-600 for the graphics card alone but I think there's a line in price where the hardcore gamer that demand the highest graphics possible and the more casual gamer meet, and that line is lower than $600.

Sony has priced themselves out of the console wars. It no longer competes as a gaming machine, it's an entertainment box with gaming capabilities. Sony admits to this. When the Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on came out the PS3 was no longer the best entertainment box you could get. Now, both the 360 and the PS3 have the ability to play High Definition movies but one major difference, PS3 cannot play your old DVDs! The PS3 only has the Blue-Ray blue laser sensor that can only play Blue-Ray discs, it is different from the regular red laser used in normal CD/DVD players. So you would need a separate DVD player by your television to watch all those DVDs you've bought over the years. Either that or buy them again in Blue-Ray version, of course if the movie you want is under the studio that supports Blue-Ray.

Right now there is no way that I would buy a PS3 even if it was cheaper than the Xbox 360. I would not have fun with it. Then again, I'll probably get one once Final Fantasy XIII comes out (the picture below is an actual gameplay screenshot).

Nintendo Wii Early Launch?

Posted Jul 6, 2006 8:24 AM by Sung

Engadget reports that someone at CNNMoney.com rumored that the Wii could make an early release into the market. The Wii was slated to launch on November 6th (and probably still will) but industry insiders say that it's due for October maybe even early September. This would make it pretty easy to decide what I would like on my October 13th birthday.

DDR for Your Calculator

Posted Oct 19, 2005 1:06 PM by Sung
DDR for your calculatorxLIB xLIB Revolution is a clone of the Dance Dance Revolution game using xLIB flash APP by Patrick Prendergast (hence the name). Unlike most other calculator clones this one features crazy graphics and run pretty fast. It also includes a level editor that will allow infinite possibilities for the game. You can even have background images in songs or even animations! Probably one of (if not the) best DDR clone for calcs. Enjoy and have fun!

DigitalLife 2005

Posted Oct 17, 2005 1:47 AM by Sung
Xbox 360 Circle Friday I went to DigitalLife at the Jacob Javits Center. I wasn't sure what it was. I read that there was going to be keynotes from the consumer electronics industry leaders, so I thought it might be a non end-user type of deal. I also knew DigitalLife was a show hosted by Patrick Norton, who was a co-host on the Screensavers when G4TV was TechTV.

Norton and the rest of the cast from The Screensavers was pretty much kicked out when Comcast merged G4 and TechTV together and moved the set from San Fransisco to Los Angelos. Norton left before the move but a few other stayed, like Kevin Rose, Sarah Lane and Yoshi. Although the show got weird and they eventually changed it to the Kevin Pereira show...I mean Attack of the Show. I'm guessing they changed the name to "AOTS" to show that it's a different show even though they keep pretty much the same format. I guess the main difference is that the show is no longer helpful. Even though the technical content of the Screensavers was the entertainment part of the show.

Anyway, back to DigitalLife. On the website for the show, they showed how there would be lots of celebrities and athletes. It was mostly a video game show so I guess celebrities and athletes had to be there to promote games. When I went, no one was there. I guess I went on an off day. I did manage to see a couple of people that made me feel star-struck. The Pac-Man and the giant robot.

I also got to see some demos of the Xbox 360 in person. I think the graphics are impressive from what they show. People have been critical, but as long as everything was rendered real-time, it's leaps and bounds above regular Xbox graphics.

Quake 3 on PocketPC

Posted Oct 6, 2005 2:05 PM by Sung
Quake 3 on PocketPC Seems like these guys were able to port Quake 3 Arena to Windows CE 4.2 for PocketPC's. It doesn't seem to run that fast, only 5 fps, but they said that they know how to make it faster and will be releasing faster versions. But it's pretty cool that you can play online wirelessly on a PocketPC if you spent all your money to buy a PocketPC before the PSP came out. Otherwise, you should just buy a PSP. PSP does the same things but looks better, performs better and you can do pretty much anything you could do on a PocketPC on a PSP.

Final Fantasy: Advent Children

Posted Sep 19, 2005 4:30 PM by Sung
Cloud's Cell PhoneI just saw it yesterday. It was definitely the only Final Fantasy game that deserved a sequel. I still haven't finished 1, 4, or 5 since they don't work in my PS2 and my PS1 no longer works. Even though my favorite Final Fantasy is VIII and everyone still disagrees that it can't be my favorite, VIII had closure. Everything ended nicely with a happy ending. I've never played IX, I think I was busy that year. X was excellent but X-2 was terrible, I gave it a chance but I just couldn't play through it. I just didn't care about what happened to Tidus after awhile. I don't do MMORPG so I haven't played XI. I won't pay $120+ a year for any MMORPG, especially if I can play only one game while paying that fee. Xbox Live I could live with if I get a game worth my time to play online. A lot of those MMORPG games require a lot of time to actually start having fun with it.

VII had the best story. The moment Sephiroth killed Aerith, I was genuinely shocked and angry. I rarely get these feelings when playing video games. I don't play a lot of video games even though I may keep up with some of the things going on in the industry. I just don't take them as seriously as others in my generation do.

It was a treat when I found that they were working on a short movie that is going to be a sequel to VII. I didn't think much of it when it was first announced. It was only a small blurb in a magazine. I didn't think much of it, maybe just a short clip made by the animators for fun and for fans? Just to deepen the existing story? A month later they release more info that it will be a 60 minute movie. At the same time they released pictures of main characters for XII. I was distracted with that, but before I knew it, they announced that Advent Children would be a 90-minute movie. This is when I started to become really excited about it. Little by little, they released more screenshots, stated that Dirge of Cerebus will continue where Advent Children leaves off and the DVD will be released in the US fall 2005.

Many sleepless months go by until I stumble across a copy of Advent Children fansub. It was a joyous occasion. Of course I yelled at anyone that came near my room so I wouldn't be distracted while watching AC. And so I watched it. A few minutes went by and I pondered the movie. 30 minutes later, I watched it again. I felt like a true nerd and I couldn't be happier.

The movie was actually pretty good as far as action movies go, although it's much more than that. The visuals were top-notch, really detailed and smooth. The action sequence was very fantastic but it was very fast and intense. I think the plot could have been better. What made me really like it was seeing all the old characters again. I think other fans of the series felt the same way especially when each character threw Cloud up that tower. Also when they performed their limit breaks. I didn't think highly of the new villains. One of them looked like Scott Caan, from Ocean's Eleven and Gone in Sixty Seconds, but with white hair. Reno and Rude took such a beating. I remember them being bumbling idiots in the game but not being this tough. Apparently, Eminem was in the voiceover actor for Mr. Coates but I don't remember the character in the movie.

If you're a fan, you've probably seen it already. If you're not but like visually stunning movies, I'd recommend it. It is also a very good action movie as well, some people have complained about the camera angles but it didn't bother me that much. Overall, well of course I liked it, but it has been one of the best made movies this year. It's sad I can't even joke like that because of how bad hollywood has become lately.

Seriously, there hasn't been any movie I've gotten excited to go see in months! There's the usual remakes of old tv shows and movies but what's up with all these horror movies that look exactly the same? I'm glad at least that they learned a lesson that Jimmy Fallon sucks and therefore his movies will also suck. Same thing with Owen Wilson. Hollywood at least knows enough to not let him in a movie by himself with the exception of Behind Enemy Lines. Every time I see him I just want to punch him in the face, that's probably why he has a crooked nose.
